After Elon Musk reactivated the account of the former US President, Donald Trump ignored Twitter.
- There were more than 15 million votes in favour of Donald Trump in the poll on Twitter.
- Donald Trump received 51.8 percent of the vote, securing his reelection.
- On January 8 2021, Twitter initially banned Donald Trump's account.
Even though a narrow majority of respondents in a survey conducted by Twitter's new owner Elon Musk backed enabling the former US President to rejoin the network after he was banned for inciting violence, Donald Trump claimed on Saturday that he had no interest in doing so.
A little over 15 million people who use Twitter took part in the poll, and 51.8% of them said they should be reinstated. By 10 p.m. ET on Saturday, Trump's Twitter account had nearly 100,000 followers. It had begun to gain followers.
Trump had over 88 million followers on Twitter before being banned on January 8, 2021. Some users initially complained on Saturday night that they were unable to follow the restored account.
Earlier in the day, Trump had given off a lacklustre impression. The app created by his Trump Media & Technology Group (TMTG) startup, Truth Social, which he claimed had better user engagement than Twitter and was performing 'phenomenally well,' was the platform he said he would stick with.
Trump, who said on Tuesday that he would like to run again in 2024, lauded Musk and declared that he had always loved him. But Trump also claimed that Twitter had 'amazing' issues, including bots and false accounts. When Musk originally said in May that he intended to lift the restriction, many of Twitter's advertisers were eagerly anticipating any return by Trump.
Since then, the billionaire has made an effort to reassure clients and sponsors that such a decision would be carefully reviewed by a content moderation committee made up of people with 'widely divergent perspectives' and that no account reinstatements would occur before the council met. Additionally, he stated that unless there was a 'clear method for doing so,' Twitter would not restore any banned users.
Although she had been suspended for breaking his new anti-impersonation policy by changing her profile name to 'Elon Musk' without making it obvious that it was a parody account, Musk last week decided to reactivate comedian Kathy Griffin. Regarding the moderation council or the procedure, there is no recent information.
Since he started posting often on the app in May, Trump's primary method of direct connection with his supporters has been Truth Social. In the face of legal investigation from state, congressional, and federal investigators, he has used Truth Social to support his allies, lambast adversaries, and defend his reputation.
However, his relationship with the corporation gives Trump the opportunity to actively participate on other platforms. According to a May SEC filing, Trump is required to grant Truth Social a six-hour exclusive on any post, but is free to post 'political messaging, political fundraising, or get-out-the-vote efforts' on any website, at any time.
